How do you begin your class?

Spain.
Spain.

How do you begin your Spanish classes?  I am sure there are many different answers, however it is important to have a routine!  For most teachers, it’s effective to begin with a warm and consistent routine that gets students using the language right away. Many teachers start with a short greeting in Spanish, such as “¡Buenos días, clase!” and encourage students to respond together. This can be followed by a quick question of the day (¿Cómo estás? or ¿Qué día es hoy?) to get students speaking and listening from the start. Routines like reviewing the calendar, weather, or simple classroom commands help establish comfort with common phrases.

Another great way to begin is with a short, engaging activity that activates prior knowledge, such as a mini game, a song, or a quick review of vocabulary. This not only builds confidence but also sets a positive and interactive tone for the rest of the lesson. Keeping the opening predictable, helps students ease into Spanish mode and be ready for deeper learning.
